H.E. Dr Elliston Rahming
Bahamas Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba
H.E. Dr Elliston Rahming has a distinguished career in The Public Service of The Bahamas. He is a Criminologist by training but has served in politics, academia, social policy development and corrections.
Dr Rahming has served as Special Assistant to two Prime Ministers; Consultant/ Advisor on Crime within the Ministry of National Security; Commissioner of Corrections ( Prisons); Probation and Parole Officer with the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole; Executive Director of the Miami Y.M.C.A; Director of Sojourner Douglass College ( Bahamas Campus); Founder and Director of R.E.S.P.E.C.T Academy ( now Westminster College on Blake Road-Nassau); Adjunct Professor at the University of The Bahamas and Omega College; member of The Bahamas Senate (1992-1997); Bahamas Ambassador to the Organization of American States ( O.A.S) in Washington D.C and Ambassador to the United Nations ( N.Y.). He has completed Study Tours in more than thirty prisons in ten countries and he is owner of The InterTech Group Ltd- providers of professional private security and investigation services.
Dr. Rahming holds the B.A.Degree in Sociology from Bethune- Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida as well as the M.S.W.( Master in Social Work) Degree and Ph.D. in Criminology from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. He is a Certified Anger Management Therapist and Dispute Mediator and he has completed the U.S. State Department’s Drug Demand Reduction Course as well as the Opa Locka, Florida Police Department’s Police-Community Relations Course.
He has a string of publications to his credit including the book “ Breaking Glass Ceilings: Top 100 Black Achievers Who Changed the World”.
