The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates Foreign Service Officer Mr. Antonio V. Butler Jr., who works in the Americas Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on his recent stellar accomplishment as a Visiting Fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. Mr. Butler conducted research relative to “The implementation of UNSC res 1540 in the Caribbean, and ways for CARICOM to contribute towards strengthening the objectives of the resolution, regionally and globally”. He is the first Bahamian to complete this prestigious fellowship.
The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) is the largest nongovernmental organization in the United States devoted to curbing the spread of weapons of mass destruction—and the only organization dedicated exclusively to graduate education and research on nonproliferation issues.
The CNS Visiting Fellows programme is designed to assist junior and mid-career policy and technical professionals obtain an in-depth understanding of the legal, political, regional, and technical aspects of WMD nonproliferation, and to develop the skills necessary to have a positive impact on arms control and nonproliferation policy in their respective countries and in the international arena.
